Pinellas Park Florida Homes

Pinellas CountyLocated right in the middle of Pinellas County, the peninsular separating the city of Tampa from the Gulf of Mexico, this fast growing city has left its rural roots behind to become home to a community of nearly 50,000 demographically diverse people.

The town started life as a small service community within the
agricultural enterprise that was Pinellas Farms. However when Northerners stopped buying the area’s citrus produce during the Great Depression, the local economy collapsed and the 2,000 inhabitants left.

Let Rigler Realty sell your home in Pinellas Park, Florida.

Piggy-backing on the emerging highway system started during the 1930’s and a renewed sense of national optimism following the Second World War, Central Florida became a magnet for a new wave of immigration. A virtual hub for all the delights of Central Florida---- Orlando, Gulf of Mexico beaches, wilderness areas, barrier island resorts etc.---and with a full compliment of services---rail, roads, communications, schools etc.---the now incorporated Pinellas Park experienced rapid growth. Rapid growth that saw the population reach nearly 12,000 by 1960. And then double by 1970. And double again by the mid 80’s. This rapid growth also saw the early city boundaries of Pinellas Park double with voluntary annexations.

And the people who came here were a diverse demographic mix, from young families to retirees. From professionals to unskilled factory workers recently arrived from the horrors of war in Europe. Pinellas Park is just so central to all that this region has to offer.

Although the rate of growth has slowed, the rich heritage has remained. A heritage that has left a range of housing styles with prices to suit all budgets, alongside newer gated communities with higher end homes.

And that early appeal of centrality is still a major attraction for newcomers. Central to the schools, hospitals, employment opportunities and recreational attractions for which Pinellas County is rightly famous.

The Pinellas County School District is among the largest in the state of Florida, and one of the largest employers in the region. With 150,000 pupils enrolled in various institutions throughout the County---including “exceptional” schools and adult schools---all based on a program of free choice selection, there is a school to suit every educational need. And after completing high school, Safety Harbor students can attend one of the many fine colleges and universities in the area. Tampa has two excellent Universities—the University of Tampa and the 27,000 student University of Southern Florida. Both have excellent graduate programs.

Pinellas County is also a manufacturing center for electronic goods, ranking number two in Florida for manufacturing employment. Pinellas has the majority of the medical manufacturing industry segment in the Gulf Coast to Space Coast high tech corridor. A corridor many say is leading the world in many areas of medical research and manufacture.

Established as a town in 1914, and a city in 1959, Pinellas Park operates under the Council- Manager form of government. Five elected Commissioners, one of whom is also elected to act as Mayor, appoint a City Manager as the chief administrative officer of the City.

And the town welcomes the entrepreneur, the self- employed businessman. Pinellas Park has nearly 3500 businesses operating here now. Businesses that range from sole operators who commute to work electronically to major corporations that employ thousands of area residents. The Pinellas Park / Mid-County Chamber of Commerce is very active here and works closely with legislators to create a business friendly environment No wonder over 200 of Fortune 500’s top companies are represented in Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay region.
