Established in 1944 and named after its first resident, Charles Redington, a builder who was largely responsible for the town’s early development, Redington Beach is a community with less than two thousand permanent residents. In common with all other island communities, there is a limit to expansion. And with zoning restrictions and responsible town planning limiting multi-story construction, real-estate prices continue to be driven by a scarcity of new product. These compliment the wide variety of residential housing, commercial properties and recreational buildings on Gulf Boulevard. Gulf Boulevard, the main thoroughfare connecting these beach communities, also has numerous exclusive condo developments with ringside seats to the most spectacular show in town: a Gulf sunset!—as well as hotels and motels with easy access to beach. There are restaurants famous for generous servings of fresh locally caught fish and diners serving early birds with strong coffee and hearty fare.
